10 Ways to Reconnect with Nature

Whether you’re craving more calm, clarity, or connection, spending time in nature can be one of the most nourishing things you can do for yourself. But you don’t need to be super outdoorsy or plan a big camping trip to experience the benefits. There are so many simple, accessible ways to reconnect with the natural world—right where you are.

Here are 10 ideas to inspire you:

Bring nature into your home

You don’t always have to venture outside to feel connected to nature—sometimes, it’s as simple as finding little ways to invite natural elements into your home. Open your windows to let in the fresh air, throw back the curtains to soak up natural light, and add a few plants or fresh flowers to your space. If you’re new to plants, start with low-maintenance ones like pothos or snake plants, and take a peek at my houseplant tips here! You could also try incorporating natural materials into your home decor like wood, stone, or linen. These little touches not only brighten your surroundings but also boost your mood and bring a calming, grounded energy into your everyday life. 

Get 15 minutes of sunshine or fresh air in the morning

Starting your day with a dose of natural light and fresh air can reset your circadian rhythm and give you a mood (and energy!) boost. Whether you take your coffee outside, open your windows, or go for a short walk, spending a few quiet moments outdoors helps set a more grounded tone for the rest of the day. Bonus points if you leave your phone behind and simply listen to the sounds of the world waking up.

Try a grounding practice 

Sometimes the simplest things are the most powerful—like kicking off your shoes and walking barefoot in the grass. This practice helps you feel more connected to the Earth and can even help reduce stress. Whether you lie on a blanket at the park or stand barefoot on your porch, it’s a gentle way to feel supported by nature.

Take yourself on field trips

Make it a monthly ritual to go on a little nature escape—whether it’s a solo hike, a walk through a botanical garden, or a weekend visit to a nearby state park. Planning these small adventures helps you break free from your routine and deepen your relationship with the landscapes around you. Don’t worry about going far—it’s less about the mileage and more about the intention. Just pick a place that feels special to you or that you’ve been wanting to explore. 

Connect with your food

Reconnecting with nature also means reconnecting with where your food comes from. Eating seasonally and shopping at your local farmers market allows you to enjoy produce at its freshest while supporting local growers. If you can, take a field trip with friends to visit a farm or orchard to see how things are grown. It’s a beautiful way to feel more rooted in your environment and more appreciative of your meals.

Learn something about your local landscape

Whether it’s identifying spring wildflowers, learning the names of local birds, or visiting the local natural history museum, deepening your knowledge of your environment can make you feel more at home. Take a little time to download an app or read up on your local flora and fauna. The more you learn, the more wonder you’ll find in the everyday.

Listen to nature sounds

If you’re feeling tense or overstimulated, try listening to ocean waves, birdsong, or rainfall—either outside or through a playlist. Playing nature sounds while working, meditating, or winding down can help lower stress and bring a little more peace to your day. Something that helps me is playing nature sounds while I do something that might normally feel stressful. It’s a small way to bring the soothing benefits of nature into your life, even if you’re stuck at your desk. 

Be a caretaker for your local environment 

A great way to feel closer to nature and your community is to take small actions to care for your local environment. Volunteer for a local cleanup, start a pollinator garden, or pick up trash during your walk. These small efforts help you feel more deeply connected to the place where you live, which can be incredibly grounding and fulfilling.

Pay attention 

One of the most powerful ways to reconnect with nature is simply to notice it. We spend so much time staring down at our phones, so this is a reminder to look up when you’re on a walk or sipping your coffee outside. Watch the way the light changes throughout the day, listen to the birds in the morning, or study the colors of the leaves as the seasons change. The more present you are, the more beauty you’ll see.

Lean into seasonal joys

Every season brings its own rhythm, beauty, and opportunities to connect with nature in new ways. Try embracing the seasonal shifts by adjusting your routines—go flower picking or plant herbs in the spring, swim or stargaze in the summer, hike among the changing leaves in fall, or bundle up for a brisk walk in winter. Tuning into the natural cycle of the year can help you feel more present and in sync with the world around you. Let the seasons guide your self-care, rituals, and moments of joy.

Finishing up 12 wonderful days in Florida and our very first beach vacation with our 5 month old ☀️🌊🌴 

It was so incredibly special to show Lily the beach where I grew up and spend time with lots of family and friends 🥹

We were really nervous about traveling with such a young baby but honestly it was so much more seamless than expected and I think it helped that we were a bit over prepared 😅 (yes I did pack her @babybrezza in our luggage and the @doonausa travel stroller 100% lives up to the hype lol) 

Other things we brought for her that made things easier and I highly recommend: 

✨ @uppababy pack and play (just check this as another piece of luggage) 
✨ @hatchforbabysleep rest and go sound machines 
✨ mini fan for stroller 
✨ @babymoov_usa baby tent for beach 
✨ over the door shoe organizer to hold/organize all baby clothes 
✨ a couple baby carriers (we love @mabecarriers @babytula and @wildbird) 
✨ @magicsleepsuit of course 
✨ @get_nanit baby monitor (packed in travel case) 

Of course you don’t need all/any of the above!! I’m just sharing what worked for us ☺️

Our mornings looked like some variation of what you see here with a few sunrise walks and coffee runs mixed in. And now it’s time to head back home with a luggage full of dirty laundry and a camera full of 10,000 pictures & videos 💕

I’m back with another way to #romanticizeroutines and this time I invited my mom over for a wholesome #crafternoon just in time for Mother’s Day! 

I made the most scrumptious snack plate using my favorite cookies and crackers by @snackbacktonature! They’re basically better-for-you versions of your childhood classic snacks and I love that they don’t have any artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners. (Look for their new packaging at a retailer near you!) 

My mom is now officially hooked on the PB Creme cookies and I know you will be too

My baby girl joined us to create handprints so that we could add them to our painted wooden frames and they turned out sooo cute!!

My mom and I haven’t crafted together since I was a little girl so this was such a wholesome moment and the perfect way to celebrate our first Mother’s Day as a mom and grandma.

Looking for the perfect way to prepare for the week ahead? I swear by this 3 step #SundayReset because it always makes me feel so much more refreshed, productive and recharged before kicking off a new week ~ and it’s been especially helpful as a new mom 💕

1️⃣ Freshen up your space: this is the time to give your home a fresh start by doing a load of laundry, decluttering and/or buying yourself flowers to display 💐 

2️⃣ Prep for the week: you all know I’m a planner so I love taking a few moments to map out the week ahead, plan workouts (and pencil them in or book them) and go grocery shopping 

3️⃣ Rest & recharge: Sundays should also be a time of relaxation so check in with your body and mind to see what you’re craving! Maybe it’s a walk in a park, cozying up with a good book, taking a nap or meeting up with a friend for coffee.

#FordAmbassador You all know how much I love catching the sunrise and this morning’s solo date was just what I needed. ​🌅

I drove my 2025 @ford Explorer® SUV to one of my favorite local parks and got there just in time to watch the sun come up over the reservoir. It was so quiet and peaceful – definitely worth the drive and the perfect way to start the day. ​

Now that the weather is warming up I’m excited to do this more often and bring my family with me for the next one! ​☀️✨

Since it’s been SO long since I’ve shared some fun facts about myself, here are 🔟 things you may not know about me: 

✨ I moved to Denver from NYC but before that I’ve lived in Florida, Germany, Korea, Oklahoma and Utah! (airforce brat over here 🙋🏻‍♀️) 

✨ I’m half Korean, a quarter Ecuadorian and Swedish ~ but sadly I only speak English 

✨ I started practicing yoga over a decade ago after a really traumatic breakup. It was the catalyst to adopting a healthy lifestyle and the reason I started my blog 

✨ I’m obsessed with houseplants and currently have 30 different plants in my home 🌿

✨ I’ve always had way too many hobbies and love to try new things! But it also means I’m not particularly amazing at one thing 😅  Jill of all trades kinda vibes 

✨ I rescued my pup Nina 12 years ago in Florida and my pup Chip in NYC 6 years ago! Advocating for pet adoption is super important to me and I follow/support a lot of rescue groups 🐶 

✨ I’m a big dessert gal and baked goods (especially chocolate chip cookies) are my weakness

✨ June is my fav month, Fall is my fav season and Christmas is my fav holiday! 

✨ I am a new mama to a beautiful baby girl after experiencing pregnancy loss a little over a year ago. She has brought so much joy into my life and I’ve never known a love quite like this ❤️

✨ I’m an ENFJ to a tee: energized by social interactions, an empath who makes decisions based on my values and emotions, organized and value structure/routines, and am always drawn to the “big picture”. Life is full of endless possibilities in my eyes

Now that Spring is in full bloom, one of the easiest ways to #romanticizeyourlife is to take pieces of your normal routine outdoors ~ because literally nothing feels more beautiful than brushing your teeth in the morning sunlight or drinking a matcha while surrounded by blooms 🌷🦋☀️ 

It’s not all about aesthetics either because getting outside for some fresh air and morning sunlight have been proven to do wonders for your mental wellbeing! 

So even if all you do is step out for a few minutes of peace while you sip your morning beverage of choice, I highly encourage you to try this for yourself 🌼

Since it’s been SO long since I’ve shared some fun facts about myself, here are 🔟 things you may not know about me: 

✨ I moved to Denver from NYC but before that I’ve lived in Florida, Germany, Korea, Oklahoma and Utah! (airforce brat over here 🙋🏻‍♀️) 

✨ I’m half Korean, a quarter Ecuadorian and Swedish ~ but sadly I only speak English 

✨ I started practicing yoga over a decade ago after a really traumatic breakup. It was the catalyst to adopting a healthy lifestyle and the reason I started my blog 

✨ I’m obsessed with houseplants and currently have 30 different plants in my home 🌿

✨ I’ve always had way too many hobbies and love to try new things! But it also means I’m not particularly amazing at one thing 😅  Jill of all trades kinda vibes 

✨ I rescued my pup Nina 12 years ago in Florida and my pup Chip in NYC 6 years ago! Advocating for pet adoption is super important to me and I follow/support a lot of rescue groups 🐶 

✨ I’m a big dessert gal and baked goods (especially chocolate chip cookies) are my weakness

✨ June is my fav month, Fall is my fav season and Christmas is my fav holiday! 

✨ I am a new mama to a beautiful baby girl after experiencing pregnancy loss a little over a year ago. She has brought so much joy into my life and I’ve never known a love quite like this ❤️

✨ I’m an ENFJ to a tee: energized by social interactions, an empath who makes decisions based on my values and emotions, organized and value structure/routines, and am always drawn to the “big picture”. Life is full of endless possibilities in my eyes

Now that Spring is in full bloom, one of the easiest ways to #romanticizeyourlife is to take pieces of your normal routine outdoors ~ because literally nothing feels more beautiful than brushing your teeth in the morning sunlight or drinking a matcha while surrounded by blooms 🌷🦋☀️ 

It’s not all about aesthetics either because getting outside for some fresh air and morning sunlight have been proven to do wonders for your mental wellbeing! 

So even if all you do is step out for a few minutes of peace while you sip your morning beverage of choice, I highly encourage you to try this for yourself 🌼
